Sensitivity Guide

I know.

You hoped that I was going to be able to give you the answers on how to be sensitive to the people in your life who are struggling.

Yeah…that would be a “no.”

Why it is so hard? Why can’t I just create a beautiful infographic on Canva and show you how easy it can be?

Because people are complicated and their stories are even more complicated.

🤔One person might be triggered by your pregnancy announcement and another is pissed that you didn’t share it with her sooner.

🤔One person wants to hear about the nuances of the latest stroller and the other might slap you if you say one more word.

There’s no right answer here. There is common sense, kindness, human decency and sensitivity.

Don’t complain about your pregnancy symptoms if your friend just lost a baby. Don’t bemoan the cost of tuition when your sister has been paying hand over fist for her IVF cycles and still doesn’t have a child to send to school.

And communicate! Because even if you think you’re doing it right, you still might piss someone off. Talk about it. Share your thoughts. Ask if they want to hear about your issues. Include them.

Because the worst is not sharing anything at all.
