Yosef Gillers (he/him)
Board Chair

Yosef Gillers is the Founder & Co-Executive Director of GrowTorah. He is a passionate experiential Jewish educator with a love for brainstorming, systems, and fun! Yosef holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a certificate in Experiential Jewish Education from M2. Chairs the Teaneck Environmental Commission and the board of I Was Supposed To Have a Baby. He lives in Teaneck, NJ with his family. On winter Sundays, he can be found teaching skiing at Plattekill Mountain, in the Catskills.

 

Briana Felsen (she/her)
Board Member

Briana Felsen has worked at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for the last 8 years. First in South Florida and now back home in the Greater Washington Area. Briana is the Greater Washington Director, overseeing a campaign that covers DC, the Maryland suburbs, and Northern Virginia. She graduated from Indiana University for her undergraduate degree and George Washington University for her graduate program.

Briana is passionate about Jewish community building, reading good books, Hoosier basketball, and the perfect wine and cheese pairing. Briana lives in Potomac Maryland with her husband Jerry and their dog Skipper.

 

Rabbi Karen Glazer Perolman (she/her)
Board Member

Karen Glazer Perolman is the Senior Associate Rabbi at Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, NJ, the congregation she has served since 2008. She studied at the University of Maryland at College Park (2004) followed by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York (M.A.H.L., 2009; Ordination, 2010). While in rabbinical school Karen had the privilege to serve as a teaching assistant to theology professor Rabbi Eugene B. Borowitz, z”l. She sits on the board of Project Kesher and was a member of the CCAR Taskforce on Women in the Rabbinate from 2017-2020. She is a grateful alumnus of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality’s Clergy Leadership Program and CLAL’s Rabbis Without Borders, GLEAN, and LEAP fellowships.

Karen is a voracious reader which fuels her passion to understand the relationships between food, spirituality, politics, Judaism, feminism and social justice. She is married to Liz Glazer, a lawyer-turned-standup comedian and are parents to baby Eloise, teenage cat Jack, and Leo, of blessed memory.

 

Lily Goodman (she/her)
Board Member

Lily Goodman is a nonprofit professional working at the Jewish Federation of Chicago for the last 14 years. Currently, Lily works on data and program evaluation efforts for the organization and its broad system of agencies and programs. Lily's passion for strengthening the Jewish community and her own infertility journey made IWSTHAB a perfect fit. She currently lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her dog Milo and loves spending time with her family and friends, especially her 7 nieces and nephews.

Sarah Schachne Hirschfeld (she/her)
Board Member

Sarah Schachne Hirschfeld is a non-practicing attorney with over 12 years of experience practicing corporate law at various New York law firms. She also has experience as a career counselor to students at a New York law school and in law-firm management. Sarah struggled with infertility and pregnancy loss for many years and became familiar with IWSTHAB on Instagram. When she's not wrangling her three kids, Sarah enjoys organizing, decorating, and immersing herself in the world of true crime.

 

Rachel Honeyman (she/her)
Board Member

Rachel Honeyman has been involved with IWSTHAB since its early days — first as a recipient of support, then as a board member. Rachel and her husband, Tzvi Doron, are childless-not-by-choice after a painful, 5+ year infertility journey, about which they've both written and spoken publicly (including in Instalives for IWSTHAB). While motherhood isn't in the cards for Rachel, she gains great comfort in being able to give back to the IWSTHAB community. Rachel has a Master's in English, runs a branding and web design agency, honeybebold, and is a martial artist and women's self-defense instructor. She lives in Long Island, NY.

Rebecca Kobrin (she/her)
Board Member

Rebecca Kobrin is the Russell and Bettina Knapp Associate Professor of American Jewish History at Columbia University where she is also the co-director of Columbia’s Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies. She works in the fields of immigration history, urban studies, business history, and Jewish History, specializing in modern Jewish migration. She is one of the lead investigators leading the award-winning digital humanities Historical NYC Project, that visualizes of the demographic and spatial changes wrought in New York City between 1850 and 1940. Her writing regularly appears in The Washington Post, CNN, The Guardian and The Jerusalem Post. She serves on the Board of the Jewish Women’s Archive and lives in New York City with her 3 beautiful children.

Adam Rattner (he/him)
Board Member

Adam Rattner is a Healthcare Attorney who grew up in Riverdale, NY. He attended Union College and Quinnipiac University School of Law. His interests are varied and include Health Equity, Jewish Causes, the New York Knicks and spending time with friends and family. Adam currently serves on the board of the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy. He lives in Stamford, CT, with his wife Esther and his children, Lincoln and Sophie.

Estie Rose (she/her)
Board Member

Estie Rose is a certified genetic counselor and outreach coordinator for JScreen. She has a special interest in community education and serves as a resource for individuals who are facing genetic health issues and fertility struggles. After going through her own loss, Estie has been searching for ways to give back to the community that supported her. Estie lives in North Woodmere with her husband and three sons and spends the majority of her time listening to their fantasy sports league updates.

 

Michelle Rubin (she/her)
Board Member

Michelle Rubin is an estate planning attorney with over ten years of experience in private practice. After struggling for many years with secondary infertility and pregnancy loss, Michelle connected with IWSTHAB to use her experience to give back and help others on their own journey.

Michelle lives in a suburb of Detroit with her husband, three children, and very large dog. When she’s not working or spending time with her family, Michelle loves to practice yoga, binge the latest TV shows, travel, and is always up for a project or craft.

 

Reva Schlanger (she/her)
Board Member

Reva Schlanger MS, RD, CDN is a registered dietitian specializing in counseling those who struggle with eating disorders and/or disordered eating. Reva’s mission is to help clients heal their relationship with food and body. She has also had the privilege of helping clients optimize their nutrition status for conception. After experiencing her own journey with pregnancy loss and IVF, she learned about IWSTHAB, which helped her feel seen and supported. In her free time, Reva loves to cook and spend quality time with her family including her golden retriever, Daisy. For Reva, life's all about relishing the flavors, both on the plate and in the heart.

 

Rabbi Johnny Solomon (he/him)
Board Member

Rabbi Johnny Solomon has a BSc in Math & Religious Studies, an MA in Jewish Education, and semicha (rabbinical ordination) from the Montefiore Kollel (London). He is the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) of WebYeshiva and works as #theVirtualRabbi, offering online spiritual coaching and halachic consultation sessions to men, women, and couples. Beyond this, Rav Johnny lectures for Matan, Herzog College, and Melton, he writes a popular daily insight on daf yomi, he is a contributor to the RZWeekly podcast, he officiates at weddings under the auspices of Tzohar, and he is a posek to his local shul in Even Shmuel.

Rabbi Danny Stein (he/him)
Board Member

Danny Stein is the rabbi of the Selma and Lawrence Ruben Base UWS, a pluralistic Jewish community for 20s & 30s in New York-based out of his and his wife Tamara's home. He feels passionate about helping folks connect with Judaism in ways meaningful for themselves. After being supported by IWSTHAB amidst his own fertility journey filled with losses and uncertainty, Danny is proud to help change the conversation within Jewish communities. He loves studying Hasidut, eating sushi, and is an overjoyed abbah (father) to their IVF baby.

Shani Sulzberger (she/her)
Board Member

Shani Sulzberger is a Human Resources professional currently working as a compliance specialist at Northwell Health. She currently assists in policy writing and management in order to create inclusive and equitable policies for all employees. Shani came across IWSTHAB early on and was really drawn to the content and education the organization has put out. After connecting with many posts and sharing with friends, she felt the need to get involved. She strongly supports the educational work IWSTHAB develops and believes that every person can benefit from the content, whether they are on their own fertility journey or wish to be compassionate to those around them.

Charlene Thrope (she/her)
Board Member

Charlene Thrope works in HR at the Estée Lauder Companies, focusing on organizational design, change management, and people analytics. She has an MS in quantitative methods and modeling from the Zicklin School of Business and undergraduate degrees from Barnard College and the Jewish Theological Seminary. Charlene is trained as a mikveh guide with ImmerseNYC and cares deeply about pluralistic Jewish community building. She currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband and son and enjoys baking, hiking, and playing board games.

Yosef Gillers

Yosef Gillers is the founder and Executive Director of GrowTorah. He offers his perspective as a peer and coach, fresh early-stage venture. He and GrowTorah graduated from the OU’s inaugural Impact Accelerator in September 2019, and he was awarded the Jewish Week’s 36 under 36 in 2019. After he and his wife suffered a loss, they turned to IWSTHAB for support. He brings the board his resourcefulness, scrappiness, and veggies.

Rachel Tuchman is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over ten years of experience. She has worked with many diverse populations including incarcerated women at Riker's Island Correctional Facility, kids and adults with developmental delays, kids with behavior issues, overwhelmed parents looking for skills and support, teens struggling with the pressures of adolescence, adults going through difficult life circumstances (divorce, infidelity, phase of life challenges) and women experiencing infertility.

Tobey Lass
Founding Board

Tobey Lass Karpel, BCBA, LBA is a behavior analyst who has worked with hundreds of children ages 2-21 who have autism for over 10 years. Tobey is an advocate for inclusive spaces in her community. As a member of the IWSTHAB team, Tobey uses her creativity, networking mindset. and analytic skills to ensure that the content being created is unique, meaningful, and reaches a wide audience. Tobey’s favorite color is tie dye and she spends her free time traveling around the tri-state area looking for the perfect chocolate babka.

Sara Liberow
Founding Board

Originally hailing from Colombia, (yes, we’ve got a native Spanish speaker in the house!), Sara brings a plethora of talents and experience to our advisory board. After experiencing her own journey with infertility, Sara brought her passion for creative initiatives, volunteerism, marketing and building relationships to the cause and joined IWSTHAB team.

When she’s not dedicating hours to refining the back end of IWSTHAB, Sara loves cooking from scratch, collecting spices from around the world, and making food look as beautiful as it tastes—a journey she documents on her own Instagram.

Sarah Schachne Hirschfeld is a non-practicing attorney with over 12 years of experience practicing corporate law at various New York law firms. She also has experience as a career counselor to students at a New York law school. Sarah struggled with infertility and pregnancy loss for many years and became familiar with IWSTHAB on Instagram. When she's not working or wrangling her two kids, Sarah enjoys organizing, decorating, and watching engaging, yet forgettable documentaries.

 

Rachel Honeyman
Founding Board

Rachel Honeyman has a Master’s in English and works as a writer and editor, with expertise in web content strategy. She’s written extensively about the infertility struggles she and her husband have faced for over five years, and connecting with IWSTHAB was a big part of her decision to “come out” about their story.

In Rachel’s multiple other lives, she’s a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an artist, a travel enthusiast, a champion for strong female involvement in the Orthodox Jewish community, an animal lover, and a mental health advocate (who’s probably anxious about something right now).

She currently lives in downtown Chicago with her dog Milo and loves spending time with her family and friends, especially her six nieces and nephews.
