Secondary Infertility Affects Our Children

It’s one thing when infertility or loss affects you. But when there are children involved, everything changes.

It’s hard to be an only child when every family around you is much larger.
It’s hard being disappointed year after year, asking and praying for a baby sister and brother, but never getting one.
It’s hard when so many others seem to get a new sibling so often.

It’s one thing to explain away the pain to ourselves. It’s not the right time. It’s wasn’t meant to be. There are other things in life that are meaningful.

But for a child, those philosophical and existential questions don’t get answered so easily.

It’s really hard.
