How to Respond When Someone Sets a Boundary

It’s not about getting mad, feeling insulted or shut out. It’s the recognition that this person in your life, the one who you love so much, needs something different than what you have been giving.

It’s about them…not you.

And because it has nothing to do with you, it should be easy to say that you support anything and everything that they need. Because you care about them.

But it’s not that simple because egos are involved and relationships are complicated.

We’re not saying that this list is perfect, but it gives the language to be able to respond in a way that is kind, appropriate and loving when someone shares their vulnerabilities.

Telling someone about your boundaries are really hard. So let’s try to make it a little easier for them.

Good shabbos.
