I Was Supposed To Have A Baby

Look In My Eyes

We really wish this didn't have to be said, but it does.

But...

What's the reason why people feel the need (urge?) to see if you're pregnant? It's only in the months before an official announcement that this stealth navel-gazing happens. It's almost as if someone subconsciously says, "OOOOH - I wonder if she has a secret...I want to be the first one who knows (sly smirk)." Everyone LOVES to be that person who knows before everyone else. It makes us feel special that we have the top-secret news before everyone else. It's a little like the voyeur who watches you without knowing
and gets a thrill from it.

We also think this happens in our culture because there is a tradition (superstition? ayin hara - evil eye) not to share pregnancy news until after the first trimester? Maybe if we shared pregnancy news earlier, these kind of comments wouldn't happen, and would inevitably save the embarrassment of those who are not expecting.

Because it *is* embarrassing for people to talk about their body.

💔Someone could have gained weight because of divorce, a stressful job, losing a loved one, financial troubles, medical problems, or a 1000 other things.

Yes - we know repeated ourselves... because ANYTHING stressful can make you gain or lose weight. Losing 20 pounds does not deserve to be complimented because you don't know the reasons behind it.

👉🏻So please, look into my eyes instead of staring at my stomach.
